Every summer our family explores different vacation rentals on the islands of Coastal BC, and this year we finally found the location that we want to return to again and again. As a family of four, the property and home had everything we could have asked for. It was comfortable and spacious, with a beautiful deck along the full length of the house from which we could sit and watch the Orca whales as they passed by almost daily. The beach was perfect for the kids to explore and the nearby trails provided nice entertainment. There was a weekend farmer's market and we bought live crab from Port Browning for dinner. When we didn't feel like cooking we made the 5 minute drive to the beautiful Poet's Cove resort down the road and enjoyed their restaurant facilities. (Poet's Cove also has a spa and a pool which you can access as well). This property really offers the best of all worlds. We loved it so much that we returned for one final weekend away over Labour Day long weekend. I suspect we will be back next year as well.
We spent three nights on Pender Island and were surprised about this estates size. It is much bigger than can be seen on the photos. The garden is perfect for kids to play and the beach access is just perfect. Nearby are trails that lead to other beaches and were fun to explore with kids. The house is relatively old but well maintained and offered everything we needed. Also, the owner Richard was very helpful with every questions we had and was quick to answer them. All of us (7) really enjoyed our time there and would definitely come again!
Our family enjoyed another amazing holiday at this relaxing rural home on South Pender - it was exactly what we needed. The home is quietly elegant, blending modern conveniences and comfort with a touch of rustic, and heartfelt evidence all around of the rich history of this longtime family property. The large property offers privacy with the option to pop down the short path to the public beach. From the kitchen window looking into the orchard with visiting deer, to BBQs on the wrap-around deck, we enjoyed watching the sun rise and Mount Baker blush at sundown. We were treated with an orca pod coming right into the bay in front of the house, and another the next day around the point and park a short few steps from the property.
The owner was very helpful and gave us all the info we needed to find the home and to ensure we had a wonderful time. The house was clean with lovely floors and granite countertops, and we enjoyed perusing the books and playing the games. We adjusted easily to conserving water, and appreciated the convenience of being able to do some laundry when needed.
A highlight was having our own rustic tennis court to cap it off. We enjoyed some nearby hikes and beach exploration, roadstand veggies and the Blood Star Gallery. Joe's Place in the main Driftwood Village, is not to be missed. We attended an art show at the island's Sea Star winery, fresh local food and crafts at the Saturday morning market, and a pint at the pub.
But most of all, we loved just sitting on the deck or in the livingroom, watching the otters, seals, eagles, deer, and orcas doing their thing, and cargo ships quietly gliding en route to their far-reaching destinations.
We would highly recommend this oceanfront experience and can't wait to return, ourselves.
Our stay at the cottage was perfect. The view was stunning, we had all our meals on the patio enjoying the view while eating.
We stayed for four days, we were lucky to see whales on there days.
Garden was beautiful, deers were in the garden all the time. You could watch deers out of the kitchen cleaning up the dishes. Kids had wonderful time on the beach picking up special rocks and chasing tiny crabs.
There is number of hiking trails within the walking distance, easy for kids as well
I don't tend to write a lot of reviews, but our visit was outstanding. The house itself is was very comfortable and clean. The main room had bookshelves with lots of books. We prepared all our meals in the kitchen, which had a very adequate supply of pans and dishes. What was most outstanding was the view from the back porch, which looks out toward the San Juan islands. It was gorgeous. We saw harbor seal, otters, and all kinds of birds, including a bald eagle. It was a fabulous weekend, especially for my 82 year old mother who had flown from Oklahoma to make the trip with us. A great trip!
We stayed at this house for 3 nights during May long weekend. Amazing location and great, well maintained house. Beach is just a step away!!! Kids enjoyed running in the large backyard, playing with swings and of course playing tennis in the tennis court. Can't wait to come back next year. Definitely would recommend to my friends.
We have rented this house 4 times already and we love it. Great location on Pender Island! Gorgeous view, huge backyard and it even has tennis courts:)
